Psalms, 43 – 45, 49, 84-85, 87

Sunday

Remember how I had mentioned earlier that psalms touch the heart of our emotions and are used for remembering all the wonderful things that God has done for us? Well, in our reading today we have another type of psalm. Psalm 45 – can you guess what is different about it?

Psalm 45 was probably written to the Solomon on one of his weddings. You see the theme of a king and his bride, but this is also known as a Messianic psalm. A messianic psalm prophesies about the messiah – Jesus Christ. In the New Testament the church is looked upon as the bride of Christ. Read this psalm again, now with this image in your mind. It describes God’s blessings on the groom (Christ) and the king’s love for his bride. Verse 10 tells us to leave and forget our father’s house (our old life) and turn now to honor Him for He is your Lord, He brings us to His palace – (our eternal home with him).
