Monday
Well, that was a short reading for the day, but what a beautiful psalm it is. This psalm is a prayer for unity. It could be unity in the family, unity in the nation, unity in our churches. “When kindred live together in unity!” (NRSV)
We read yesterday about King David uniting the northern and southern kingdoms. So what is unity? It is good and pleasant; it has a calming effect on those experiencing it. Picture if you can, the dew lying on the fresh morning grass. The sweet aroma, the clean smells, I love in the early morning hours that time when the sun has just come up and the dew is still on the lawn and flowers… an early morning walk in the garden.
Do you think God knows how to bless us with peace? How marvelous it would be for all of us to experience this blessing – life forevermore. I hope you don’t miss this blessing because you are too wrapped up in anger and hostility with your family, your neighbors, your church, your country….
Take time to pray for peace and unity today. This is God’s blessing for us, when we live in harmony.
Singing God’s praises,
Pastor Kathy
