Isaiah 5-8

Monday

What an incredible image Isaiah gives us today. One that I hope will help us to visualize the majesty and awe of the One True God?

I love the vision found in chapter 6. Isaiah, who is a man of God, devoted and respected finds himself in the throne room of God. When he sees the pure beauty around him, he realizes that he is filthy and unfit to be there. But do you notice, God doesn’t leave him like that. He has an angel bring in a hot coal and touch his lips and Isaiah is forgiven. Isaiah realizes that God is looking for someone to serve him and without hesitation, Isaiah replies, “here am I, send me”. The words of a true servant of God. Not, what do you want me to do? Not, I can’t to do that. Not, send someone else. Not, I’ll go later, right now I’m busy doing other things. No, Isaiah doesn’t say any of those things. By saying “here am I, send me” Isaiah is signing up for a very difficult life but yet a life of peace. The peace that comes from knowing you are doing what God wants. It may be hard, there may be times when you feel abandoned or threatened. There may be times when you struggle hard to stay on track. But in the end, when there is nothing else, there is peace in knowing that one day you will stand before God, who is seated on His throne, high and exalted and he will say to you, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

That is my hope for everyone who follows God, who struggle with the everyday trials, I pray for peace and I pray that you will stay true and persevere to the very end.

Shalom
