Monday
The lesson here is for Judah, but ultimately for us as well.
Did you see that for a time Egypt and Assyria will turn their hearts to God? It is because Jesus has come for everyone, not just the Jews, not just the Americans. He has come to set all of us free from our alliances, our reliance on others. Where do you put your trust, your faith? Do you put it in the government? Are you waiting for our nation to rescue you from your bad choices? To make us live moral lives? Nothing apart from our deep love for Christ will ever truly help us live moral lives. Laws cannot change how our hearts respond to each other. For example, the issue we have with guns is not a legislative issue, it is a heart issue. It is a desire to do no harm to one another.
We must put our faith in God, completely and whole heartedly. Are you following God close enough that if He asked you to do something difficult for a long period of time, that you would be willing to do it? Remember God will never ask you to do anything that is wrong and He will never ask you to do anything that he would not give you the gifts and strength to accomplish. But remember too, that if He asks something of you, you need to listen. Living our lives in step with God brings peace and contentment to us.
Blessings on the day!
