Numbers 5 – 6

(Thursday)

Ok, some harsh stuff is going on here. I don’t like the idea of casting out someone because they happen to be contagious, but the reality of the situation is, something like leprosy left unchecked, could bring harm to the whole community.

Numbers 1 – 2

(Tuesday)

Well, here we are the beginning of a new book of the bible. Lots of talk about counting people and organizing the way the “camp” would move. There is a whole lot of logistics going on here. I was trying to wrap my head around the number of people who would be traveling together.

(Thursday)

The Day of Atonement. We read today about how God has made provisions for His people to atone for their sins. (Atoning in case you are wondering – is about making amends for – saying you’re sorry). So God provides a way out. The priest was to present two goats before the Tent of Meeting and by casting lots,

February 17, 2016 (Wednesday)

In our reading for today, we learn a lot about how to take care of the person with a skin disease. Some skin diseases were temporary and the person after a week or so could be pronounced “clean” and allowed to enter back into the community and worship.

February 16, 2016 (Tuesday)

Do you remember your mom (or maybe Grandmother) ever saying… cleanliness is next to godliness? It seems like we like to be clean. We just had a “kitchen inspection” here at the church and those things are all about cleanliness and providing sanitary conditions. Doctors and nurses learned decades
