Tuesday
Here are some of the ones that I found. Quick-temper vs self-control, wise and fools, lazy vs diligent, wise and disgraceful, man of integrity vs taking the crooked path, hatred and love, wealth and poverty. I also noticed that some of the words of wisdom spoken of, have found their way into the New Testament. For example, 10:16, “The wages of the righteous bring them life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment.” Paul uses this axiom to stress a biblical truth about Jesus (Romans 6:23). Our actions (our wages – compensation for the things we have done) bring about either death or life. And through the power of the Cross, and the gift of Christ, our sinful actions can be forgiven and we can be given new life.
I also found in 10:12 the saying “but love covers over all wrongs.” Then in 1 Peter 4:8, we read “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” True in the ancient times, true 2000 years ago, true today.
I hope you are enjoying these words of wisdom from Proverbs. I hope that you will take time to memorize a few of them and use them to help you on your Christian walk.
Loving deeply
