I just saw something in Genesis 39 that I hadn’t seen before.  

Did I really need to know that Judah slept with his daughter in law?   Yes.   Yes I did.  Here’s why:

In yesterday’s reading Jacob’s sons kill all the men in town.  Today, they are on the run.

Years earlier, he had left town on the run because he had cheated his brother out of a blessing.   Now he is returning a wealthy man, and his brother is on his way to say “hello” with 400 soldiers.  

You wouldn’t believe how the nation of Israel got it’s start….I doubt they are bragging about it.

One of the hardest things to understand in the Bible is why God would reward a snake like Jacob.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…”   Can I get an “amen”?
