Reading this today reminds me of one reason I like to read in a different translation once in awhile.   Wisdom is both defined and personalized here, and the concepts are intriguing.

For the life of me, I cannot think of a short comment to introduce today’s reading.   At least, I can’t think of one that I want to put in print…

Morning

Solomon’s kingdom was certainly off to a different start than David’s was.   And, it would conclude differently as well.

176 Verses long, making it the longest chapter in the Bible.   There are 22 stanzas; one for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet.   Each stanza has 8 verses.    Probably not the first chapter you want to pick to memorize.

We’ve been saying “good-bye” to King David for several days, but today’s reading offers some new details about the final days of his reign.

Every one of these is a Psalm of praise.   This is a good devotional to break apart and read separately at times when you are discouraged, or at times when you are celebrating!!

I knew that David had collected most of the building materials, but I didn’t remember that God had given the whole blueprint to him.  David did everything except build the temple.    There are some great leadership lessons here as well.

Wow, that’s a lot of psalms.  Don’t worry, they’re short…and each one has at least one great piece of information.

At first this passage looks like a long list of names that you can skip through quickly and get on with your day.  But don’t leave too quickly, I think there is really something important here!
