Today begins the account of the unraveling of Israel from a regional power.   Everything that happens could have been avoided if the leaders had only been obedient to God.

As I read the first two lines I laughed out loud.

Today’s reading takes us from the pinnacle of Solomon’s reign to the lowest point.  What began modestly grew to be incredible and awe-inspiring, and then plummeted to insignificance.

Solomon, the wisest man to ever live said there’s no such thing as a virtuous woman.  Hmmm.   Hearing that may make you want to keep reading, or to throw the book away….but keep reading, anyway.    There are some really valuable insights here.

So…. it’s a drizzly overcast morning, I think I have strained my back, and somehow developed a head cold in the last 24 hours.   Probably not the day you want to read Ecclesiastes, but that’s where we are…

Happy Father’s Day!     Among other choice morsels in today’s reading we find this insight: “moral rot leads to national decay, and such governments are easily toppled.”    If that’s not contemporary, I don’t know what is.

I just read something that completely blew me away.   Seriously, I had no idea that this had happened….

Today’s reading is a good example of why I like to read chronologically.    I noticed a couple of details that I would have missed had they not been read side by side.    After reading this, you have some questions, don’t you?
