Nehemiah 11-13, Psalm 126

Friday

Did you notice how quickly Nehemiah dealt with the problem of sin that was finding its way into the lives of the Israelites?

In Nehemiah 13 we see the Israelites are treating the Sabbath like any other day. They are intermarrying with foreign women and Eliashib, the priest had provided his relative Tobiah (who was not permitted to be in the temple) with a room in the Temple of God.  Nehemiah deals quickly and severely with the sins that finding their way into the lives of the people.

When you allow a little sin to infiltrate your life, it some becomes easier and easier to allow it to grow. It doesn’t take long before we are desensitizing to the wrong we are committing and then we try to find ways around it or make excuses. Let’s face it, sin is sin and there is no sugar-coating it. If it is wrong, we shouldn’t do it. If there is a sin that exists in our lives, we need to cut it out. Praise God that He has given us a helper to deal with sin so that we don’t have to rely on our own strength. The Holy Spirit will not only point out the sins in our lives, but He will also help us to overcome their hold on us.

Well, I had to point out one other thing about our reading today, we have now completed the Psalms. What a beautiful psalm to end on. The exiles have returned and they are so full of joy. I hope your day is filled with the joy of the Lord.

Blessings
