Jeremiah is giving the people some hope.

Jeremiah is going to have to pay the cost for his faith and obedience to the Lord.

Our reading today deals with a variety of tragedies, drought famine, disease, and war. Within these misfortunes the question has come up… Why does God not rescue the chosen people?

Can we really say, “We are safe, safe to do all these detestable things”? That’s the question Jeremiah Is putting before God’s people.

What does God want the people to do? What does God always want His people to do?
