Have you ever noticed how people are always looking for a sign? Some sort of proof?
Looking for some miraculous healing that will proved that Jesus is more than just a prophet or a teacher. The Pharisees weren’t asking because they really wanted a sign… I mean how many signs do you need? They were so consumed with ego and selfishness that they just didn’t want to see. Their hearts were not in the right place. If they had been truly interested in the knowing the Messiah, they could have easily seen Jesus for who he was, the long awaited Messiah.
Have you ever thought you needed “proof”? Proof that God is real? Proof that Jesus is who He says He is? Well, Jesus tells the Pharisees pretty straight forward, you are asking for the wrong thing. We don’t need to have proof. If we did where is our faith? Faith is being able to believe without having proof. Remember what Jesus says to Thomas, you are blessed because you have seen and believe, but how much more for those who believe that have not seen. It is a blessing not to have “signs and wonders” and still believe that Jesus is who he says he is.
Blessings
