Baptism

Baptism, what is it?

Water baptism is a command by our Lord Jesus in the great commission recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. It is commonly described as an “outward sign of an inward change”. But it’s more than a tradition. It’s more than a rite of passage into some religious group. It is a declaration of defiance to the kingdom of darkness, and of allegiance to the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus! It is denying the self-centeredness of our old life and embracing a Holy Spirit empowered life through Christ.

Acts 2:38 – “Peter said to them; “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!”

Baptism is for anyone who has recognized that Jesus Christ is Lord and are ready to begin the journey of turning from their sin and embracing new life in Him. If you believe the gospel, desire to follow Jesus and to learn what it means to obey Him, then baptism is for you!

Acts 2:39 – “For the promise is to you and to your children and to all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call!”

Any time!

We only request that your baptism be celebrated as a community. We are all in this together, and we ought to celebrate God’s work in every one of our lives together!

We have an indoor baptismal built off the side of the sanctuary stage that can be ready within a day’s notice. We can celebrate your baptism at any Sunday service. We also schedule baptisms in the Brokenstraw Creek twice during the summer months if you would prefer to receive baptism there.

We’re ready to celebrate your commitment to Jesus with you and walk alongside you as you learn to live it out!
